The humble genre of still life comes alive at Susan Street Fine Art Gallery. STILL + LIFE captivates the viewer with paintings by Frank Domiano, Page Laughlin, Stephen Dinsmore, Tom Seghi; sculptures by David Kimball Anderson and Joel Urruty. Using old traditions to richly orchestrate the combination of inanimate subject matter and intimate spaces, the artists portray life and its fleeting qualities. These works are powerful in their simplicity while projecting an aura of mystery. In the paintings of Frank Domiano, fragments of old master paintings juxtaposed with everyday objects provide the viewer with a sense of familiarity transcending the ordinary and giving the still life new life. The exhibition runs May 21st through July 12th, 2009. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, May 21st, from 6-9 pm, in conjunction with Third Thursday Gallery Night on Cedros.
