Event Description |
Spend your summer making art at Oceanside Museum of Art’s Free Family Art Days on Sunday, July 5th and August 2nd. Bring the whole family to this fun-filled free event where children are encouraged to view the artwork featured in the exhibitions Fabric of Survival: The Art of Esther Nisenthal Krinitz and Institutional Wellbeing: An Olfactory Plan for Oceanside Museum of Art and participate in hands-on art activities that reflect concepts and themes from the exhibits. Family Art Day includes all necessary materials and is free to the public.
On July 5th at 11:00 a.m. kids 5th grade and older are invited to talk with Sol Berger, a Holocaust survivor, adults are welcome. At 12:00 p.m. children of all ages can participate in a memorial tile painting family art project. Each person will receive a tile to express their feelings about the Holocaust and the exhibition Fabric of Survival. Once fired these tiles will be mounted on the walls of the museum for the duration of the exhibition. Children will be able to collect their tiles after October 25, 2009. At 3:00 p.m. Sol Berger will talk with teenagers about the Holocaust and give them the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the effects of discrimination and social injustice.
