Learn how to become a legitimate business, how to organize your paperwork with regard to income, expense deductions and taxes, and how to present yourself to the world without appearing to be a flaky artist. Discussions will cover resumes, creating a good portfolio, marketing, how to approach a gallery and get your work accepted to art shows, and much more. This is the class they didn't teach you in Art School.

Event Description Our last meeting of the year is our holiday potluck lunch on Tuesday, Dec, 13 from 11 to 2 pm. Please RSVP to patricia@sdvisualarts.net for directions. Our lovely invite is by Lori Escalera and remember to start organizing your food and accessories for the exchange. As before, we will include an accessories exchange (jewelry, shoes, scarves, belts, purses). Bring one dish that serves 8 and clean out your closets. Clean and repaired or barely used items can be exchanged at no charge, just for the fun of finding a new home for your clutter.

Event Description SAN DIEGO, CA – White embodies tranquillity, peace, air, and innocence. Black is the colour of the night, fear, pain and death - when placed together we find interesting gray areas. This exhibition “Graydients: A Black & White Show,” at BASIC on December 13, presents works by a group of artists using only black and white, the colours of dreams. Artists exhibiting include Carrie Anne Hudson, Franky Agostino, N.O.M.A.D., MR. DVICE, Still1, Daniel Jaimes Keemowerks, Kenny King, Paul Ruiz, Jeff Donndelinger and more. There will also be live DJs such as Terry James from Next Step Productions and drdiggs. The opening starts at 7pm and runs until 12am on December 13. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Avenue in downtown, San Diego. There is no dress code and no cover. However, you must be at least 21 years old to attend.

Event Description Taught by Tara Hu This class is part of a new series of exciting workshops where participants will create collage projects using exotic materials. The traditional art of Chinese Calligraphy has a history going back more than 3,000 years. In this series of classes you will learn brush techniques that are both ancient and modern. Participants will be introduced to the union between hand, brush and paper leading to inner tranquility and the creation of beautiful art. Students will create one or more greeting cards and a picture frame.
