The San Diego Air & Space Museum's Space Day celebration is set to launch on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come and engage in fun hands-on demonstrations, giveaways, and activities with local and national space experts. Space Day is FREE for children 17 and under (with paid adult admission). Admission is discounted for adults with a coupon available on the Museum's website: www.sandiegoairandspace.org.
Local astronaut Woody Spring, whose ambitious spacewalks from the space shuttle helped prepare for the construction of the International Space Station, is planning to join us to share stories of his dynamic space career.
Invited Presenters include NASA, Sally Ride Science, San Diego Space Society, JPL, The Mars Society, SETI, San Diego Astronomy Association, UCSD EarthKAM, UCSD MoonKAM, The Planetary Society, UCSD Near-Space Balloon Team, Virgin Galactic, Aerospace Legacy Foundation, Astronaut Teacher Alliance and many others.

The Museum's Space Galleries are also open for viewing throughout the event, including a flown Apollo spacecraft, moon rocks and space suits. The San Diego Air & Space Museum is California's official air and space museum and education center. The Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and it was the first aero-themed Museum to be accredited by the American Association of Museums. Now on display, “How Things Fly,” a special exhibition that examines the wonder of flight through four fun and interactive zones. The Museum is located at 2001 Pan American Plaza, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101. The Museum and gift store are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with admissions until 4:00 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
