Event Description Oceanside Museum of Art is partnering with Steven Churchill, Producer of The Art of Photography Show, to curate an exhibition that offers museum visitors a global/international perspective on the landscape. Contemporary Landscape Photography: An International Perspective, curated by Churchill, will feature approximately 35 images that highlight our integral connection to our surrounding environment and the changing aspects of our landscape. With images ranging from urban settings to idyllic naturescapes, this exhibit will present a diverse selection of engaging scenes from around the world. The Art of Photography Show is an established and critical force in the world of contemporary photography. Now in its 9th year, this exhibition brings awareness to the importance of this ubiquitous medium that is able to capture the ordinary and exceptional moments and places in life. The 2013 competition, juried by Julia Dolan, attracted entries from 85 countries.

Event Description Through the disassembling and reassembling of nature, San Diego-based artist, Stephen Curry presents a fresh perspective of the landscape. Fragmenting trees and other objects from nature, his dramatic installations recall photographic negatives that hint at a familiar environment. Scape / Escape will feature a collection of multiple panel paintings that function together evoking consideration of our surrounding landscape. Join us for a mega-reception on November 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that celebrates the opening of four concurrent exhibitions that also focus on the subject of the landscape: Scape/Escape: Stephen Curry, Nature Improved: San Diego Artists Interpret Our Landscape, Urban Entropy: James Enos, Contemporary Landscape Photography: An International Perspective. The reception is free for members and $10 for nonmembers and includes an open bar and creative appetizers provided by OMA’s Culinary Arts Committee.

Event Description ArtHatch and Distinction Gallery are delighted to present “Put A Bird On It”, curated by Aaron Jasinski, featuring a collection of art by 30 artists from around the globe. Event Description San Diego’s home for emerging local art, Space 4 Art, will host Something in the Heart is Never Lost: an Art Show in Memoriam of Cara Mia Ciasulli from Wednesday, November 6th until Saturday, November 9th, 11am-4pm daily. The event is being organized to honor the legacy of local artist, musician, entrepreneur and arts organizer Cara Mia Ciasulli who passed away in March of 2013. In her honor, artists were issued a challenged to “Do Art Daily” for a 30-day span kicking off September 21st until October 20th. The results of that challenge will be on display during this event. The show exhibit will be capped off with a reception on the evening of Saturday, November 9th from 6pm until 10pm with a $5 donation suggested at the door. The exhibit features over 40 local and out-of-area artists working in a variety of media and includes live musical and performance pieces the evening of the reception.

Event Description The most popular movie, TV, comic, and video game characters are coming together in a new way through art. Artists are uniting beloved pop icons together to make one awesome combination at Thumbprint Gallery’s new group show “SPLICE.” Notable characters, such as Hello Kitty and Wolverine, will be merged together to create crazy and bizarre crossovers. The reception is on Saturday, November 9 and runs until December 8 at Thumbprint Gallery in La Jolla.

The opening reception starts at 5 p.m. on November 9 and goes until 10 p.m. and is open to the public. Thumbprint Gallery is located at 920 Kline St. #104 in La Jolla. Other artists include: Paul Naylor, RBST, Somaramos, Annie Hardy, Matthew Land, Rod Mojica, Sekoh One, Optimus Volts, Paul Vargas, GMONIK, Nick Simon, Keemowerks, Paul Brogden, Coco Miller, Brian Dombrowsky, Tayler Shaw and Kristine Tran. The exhibition will be on display until December 8.
