Event Description ArtHatch and Distinction Gallery are thrilled to be hosting an exhibition of one of Escondido's most beloved artists, Kelly Vivanco. This exhibit titled “Curious Gardens” will feature Vivanco’s newest creations typically revolving around young, innocent girls, boys, and animals in “Curious” settings. Vivanco will be in attendance at the Opening Reception to meet, greet and answer questions. The Opening Reception with Live Music will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 6-10pm. Event Description The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority will present an art and culture symposium, Aesthetics & Authenticity, March 7–9, at the New Central Library in downtown San Diego. The symposium will present different perspectives on the authenticity of place and how art, design and culture play a significant and important role in the infrastructure of our cities and regions. On Friday, March 7, the event will open with a pre-symposium art and architecture tour of the airport’s newly expanded Terminal 2, followed by a reception. On Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9 the symposium will include informative sessions with emerging and international visual artists, civic leaders, and cultural enthusiasts. Cost to attend the symposium is $65. The registration fee includes the tour and reception on March 7, all sessions March 8-9, and continental breakfast and lunch on March 8-9.

Event Description For the past seven years, the Ph.D. Symposiums as showcased graduate student research and the academic rigor of the Art History, Theory, and Criticism Ph.D. program at UC San Diego. This year’s conference is titled, AFTER THE FACT: Feminist Cultural Production and Temporal Dissonance, and will begin at 9:00 am at the Structural and Materials Engineering (SME) Building Presentation Lab. Approached from a multitude of vantage points, feminist discourse increasingly challenges conventional or accepted ideas about the cultural rationality of time. Conference papers and artist project presentations will be presented around the theme of temporality and feminist cultural production. Elizabeth Freeman will be the keynote speaker at AFTER THE FACT: Feminist Cultural Production and Temporal Dissonance.
