Event Description |
Social practice art project aimed to aid in rehabilitation programs at the R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility, San Diego.
The exhibition showcases asynchronous collaborations between participating artists who were never physically able to meet with the incarcerated participants but who regularly communicated through letters and worked to visually convey a shared vision, using a diverse array of media. The artwork was carried outside-inside-outside by the facilitator so that paired artists in each situation could add pencil, paint, and fabric. The finished pieces and written letters will be on display with the art.
Project PAINT is a visual arts organization at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, San Diego. It is facilitated and curated by Kathleen Mitchell, working with Founding Director Laura Pecenco of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). |
