Event Description Quint Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition, PATRICIA PATTERSON: Observed Narratives. This is the third solo exhibition at the gallery for the artist. The exhibitions opens on Saturday, July 20th with a public reception from 11am to 1 pm, the artist will be in attendance. Rather like a contemporary Virginia Wolfe, Patterson takes simple dinner conversation and creates art from it. In reverse, she might take fictional color from one of her paintings and paint a wall or baseboard in her house. For Patterson, art equals life and domestic life equals art. Her paintings are scenarios, reflecting the connectedness of family, friends and the earth. Patricia Patterson's work deals with ordinary life. Her paintings are populated with family, friends, scenes of home and the surrounding landscape. Patricia Patterson moved to San Diego from New York in 1970, and was a Professor of Art at the University of California, San Diego until 1999.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, July 20th with a public reception from 11am to 1pm, the artist will be in attendance. In Antivenom, Sasha Koozel Reibstein explores transformation, ambiguity and the sublime through ceramics and mixed media that blend abstraction and representation. Intricately carved forms and seductive, shimmering surfaces demonstrate an obsessive attention to detail. Highly articulated drop formations merge and metamorphize with flowers, serpents and crystals evoking symbolic and emotional responses. This body of work also reflects on the California dream, both as fantasy and reality. Through references to landscape and heavy use of gold, glitter and iridescence, the work communicates an idealism and optimism that is both beautiful and surreal.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, July 20th with a public receptions from 11am-1pm, the artist will be in attendance. Photographer Alanna Airitam was born in Queens, New York and now resides in San Diego, California. As a portrait photographer, her work focuses on identity and representation, and proposes and investigation into the concept of wholeness. Her use of Chiaroscuro lighting creates a painterly effect, that coupled with her use of symbolism allows her to explore the duality of light and dark both metaphorically and literally. Her subjects are illuminated in a way that calls for them to be viewed as the counter to contemporary stereotypes. Airitam's images have been published in a variety of national and international media outlets such as Chicago Tribune, BBC News, VICE!, The Huck, Lenscratch, Range Finder, etc.
