Event Description Instructor: Katya Mezhova

Session 1 - Saturday, October 19
Session 2 - Saturday, November 9

3 Hour Sessions • 6 - 9 PM
With Instruction $20 without instruction, $35 with instruction per session

Katya Mezhova will present nude and street clothed models in three short poses followed by a long pose. Easels, tables and tabourets will be provided first come, first serve. Artist must bring their own drawing/ painting supplies. No solvent please. Beginners and Intermediate artists welcome.

Katya Mezhova learned her craft from Russian Academic Tradition, which is the way art has been transmitted over the centuries since the Italian Renaissance. Passionate about live Jazz, She is locally known for her growing body of work documenting musicians in San Diego music scene. Katya is a regularly exhibiting artist at The Studio Door, where her work is for sale.

This presentation is offered as part of The Studio Door's Artist Almanac 2019. The Studio Door continues its collaborative spirit by bringing together some of San Diego art authorities to speak and teach. Local art authorities from different fields will share their knowledge with artists and patrons while some of the regions best art instructors will offer specialty workshops to highlight the classes that they offer in other parts of the region. This is a fantastic opportunity to get in on a variety of creative courses, professional development talks and social gatherings that bring together like minded creatives.

Event Description Larry Baza will give an overview of California Arts Council’s 19 programs, updates from Sacramento and his passion to represent San Diego at the state level.

With three decades of arts advocacy, Larry Baza has been instrumental in San Diego’s arts community. Appointed by Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins in 2016, Baza was elected to serve as Vice Chair on the California Arts Council. He is the immediate past Chair of the San Diego Arts Commission and has been instrumental with a variety of art organizations and businesses including Centro Cultural De La Raza, Sushi Performance and Visual Arts, Fingerhut Gallery, and Community Arts of San Diego.

This presentation is part of The Studio Door's fall programming featuring essential workshops, classes and presentations by San Diego's Art Authorities.

Event Description Limited Engagement: November 9 - December 28, 2019 “Echoes”, a retrospective collection of works by world-renowned artist Jean Kazandjian will be on exhibition and available for acquisition at Meyer Fine Art, one of San Diego’s most venerable art galleries. The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 and extends through Saturday, December 28th, 2019. Two very special, not-to-be-missed in-gallery receptions with the artist will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Jean Kazandjian (1938 - ): A French-Armenian artist working in Paris and Los Angeles The exhibition will feature 80 pieces of Jean Kazandjian’s work created between 1991 and 2019. Kazandjian’s work can be seen in collections around the world including on the walls of the San Diego Intercontinental Hotel.
