Event Description From July to November 2020, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) will host virtual Charlas, “talks” in Spanish, related to themes of Chicanx, Latinx, and Border Art in conjunction with the online exhibition “To Tame a Wild Tongue: Art after Chicanismo.” The Charlas feature exhibition curator Alana Hernandez in conversation with exhibiting artists on Instagram Live. Join the Charla on Thursday, September 17 at 11am for a conversation with Julio César Morales. Tijuana-born Julio César Morales’s practice focuses on issues of migration, labor, and informal economies, on both a personal and a global scale. The artist has positioned himself as a documentarian of people across the United States-Mexico borderlands. The online exhibition “To Tame a Wild Tongue: Art after Chicanismo” brings together over twenty-five artists from the Museum’s collection to explore distinct aspects of the Mexican American experience.
