Art Scene West is bringing you two full weeks of abstract art from artists in Central and Southern California to our Gallery and courtyard for a Spring Emergence pop-up show. The event titled “Emotions Embodied: Abstractions from the West Coast,” will be held May 1st through the 14th with pop-ups outside on the weekends (1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th) at our 312 South Cedros, Solana Beach location. The list of artists and a preview of works that will be available can be viewed at https://www.artsy.net/show/art-scene-west-outdoor-pop-up-show-emotions-embodied-abstractions-from-the-west-coast. The Emotions Embodied pop-up brings a subset of artists from our larger online show available on www.artscenewest.com and Artsy.net which includes artists from the entire West Coast that has been running since March 3rd. This show includes 60 pieces and 37 artists. A portion of all proceeds from sales at this show will be donated to The Center for Cultural Innovation, www.cciarts.org. |

Event Description |
Join us for a virtual Art of Reading Book Club featuring the book Broad Strokes: 15 Women Who Made Art and Made History by art historian Bridget Quinn. The book adds a fun narrative while reexamining the lives and work of 15 women artists, spanning from 1600 to the present day. Replete with beautiful reproductions of the artists’ works and contemporary portraits of each artist by renowned illustrator Lisa Congdon, this is art history for the modern art lover, reader, and feminist. This book club meeting will be held via Zoom and will be followed by a virtual tour focusing on the Museum’s collection of works by women artists, including some of the artists featured in Broad Strokes.
