Event Description This workshop is best suited for those who attended either of the first two Glass Mosaic Tile Design workshops or are trying to sharpen their mosaic masonry skills. participants will start the day by readying the glass mosaic created in the first two workshops for installation. A midday break to tour the grounds and take in the inspiration gained on Hubbell Hill will be followed with an afternoon of getting to understand the final stages of the mosaic process, all while being a part of a permanent installation on the Ilan Lael/Hubbell Studio grounds!

Event Description On the weekend of July 10th and 11th 2021 Twisted Heart Puppetworks will be hosting San Diego’s first ever online international shadow puppetry festival, lovingly titled Shadows Across The Globe. This festival is a grassroots endeavor spearheaded by Tania Yager and sponsored by the San Diego Guild Of Puppetry and Backfence Society of Vista . The goal is to bring this unique artistic medium right into people's homes for free and introduce people from all over the globe to the fascinating and ancient world of shadow puppetry. The festival will feature a free, live streaming, family friendly category called Shadow Play on both Saturday and Sunday morning as well as offering ticketed ZOOM classes for folks of all ages and skill levels. Live ZOOM Artist Talks from industry leaders will be sprinkled through the weekend. Event Description Honoring over 200 Black lives loss to racial injustice and systemic racism. The San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art (SDAAMFA) will unveil the “Say Their Names” Memorial exhibit (Memorial) at its ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11:00 am. The location of the exhibit is in the M.L. King Promenade at the New Children’s Museum Park (200 w. Island Avenue) and is free to the public. The Memorial features 200 photos of Black victims, whose lives were lost due to racial injustice, police brutality and/ or racism. The exhibit will be open and accessible daily from July 10-July 25, 2021. The “Say their Names “Memorial is a nationwide, grassroots initiative to honor Black lives loss in the struggle against systemic racism. The memorial began in Portland, Oregon and is an outgrowth of the protests that began nationwide in 2020. The informal outcry is now an organization called “Say Their Names Memorial”
