How do you use the site:

For Visitors to the site - FULL INSTRUCTIONS
This site is free to all visitors. To find visual arts resources in San Diego use the Directory. For a quick look at what is happening see the calendar on the home page. To do a search for a special day or type of event, go to the full Calendar of Events link. To see a complete list of all visual arts resources use the Dirctory List . Or cllick to see a list of All Artists on site. You can also see opportunities in our community for arts volunteer and paid jobs on the site.

For Artists and Art Resources - FULL INSTRUCTION FOR ARTISTS
and FULL INSTRUCTION FOR ART RESOURCES
The San Diego Visual Arts Network accepts submissions from all visual arts resources and artists located in San Diego. To submit your information for inclusion in the directory go to the "Art Resource Log In". If you are an art resource use the "Art Resource, Click here to Sign up" link. If you are an artist use the special "Artist, Click here to Sign up" feature. You will need to choose your own user name and password when filling out the forms. Once you have submitted your form you can list events and opportunities. For full instructions click here.

To check for locations boundaries
look at the San Diego Map. Once you have signed up as a visual arts resource you log back in to list your events on the calendar. To give a donation in support of SDVAN use our secure credit card facility or go to Support SDVAN to send by mail.

Who owns SDVAN? A committee organized this project purely as a not for profit venture. Non of the committee members received payment of any kind and have no financial interest in SDVAN. They are all glad to volunteer theirb services and skills. This project was a way for many groups who were not working together to come together for the mutual benefit of the Visual Arts Community. It is our hope that this project will be self sustaining from donations and any monies raised will go to
service and improve the web site.

Who is the committee? The original ad hoc committee came from the grass roots of the arts organizations in San Diego. It consisted of Sandra Chanis (Oceanside Museum of Art), Daniel Foster (SDAI), Patricia Frischer (COVA, SD Artist Guild, OMA AA and coordintor of SDVAN), Elfred Lee (SD Artist Guild and Portrait Society), Ann Berchtold of SanDiegoArtist.com, Jane La Fazio (San Diego Watercolor Society). We are now run project to project by committee with our only ongoing committee the San Diego Art Prize.. We welcome members from any area of the directory listings to volunteer. .

What else is on the site besides the directory? We have two directories, one for art resources and a special directory just for Artists. Besides the directory and the events calendar, we have an educational feature for collectors called the SmART Collector. We also have Picked Raw Feature for each months events, a RAW gossip column with dialogues about the previous months activities. Our monthly message is posted at the end of each month for the following month. You can see an entire list of everythig on the site on the Site Map page. We have planned the site to have a holistic vision that grows with the needs of the visual arts community.

Where does the money you raise go? All money raises goes back into the web site and for projects. It is our hope someday to be able to pay an administrative staff to coordinate the day to day running of the site. It is only with the support of the Visual Arts community that SDVAN can grow to fulfill it's mission to improve the clarity, accuracy and sophistication of discourse about San Diego's artistic and cultural life.
