Liberty Station Community Association (LSCA) and the NTC Foundation are seeking interest from qualified Artists to “Illuminate the Season” with a temporary light Installation starting in November 2017 through the winter season and possibly beyond.
The light installation will be located within or along the North Promenade from the signature 88-ft Norfolk Island Pine near Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens to the Rady Children’s Ice Rink in the Legacy Plaza, in the heart of the ARTS DISTRICT. Over 100,000 people are expected to visit the rink and the Plaza during the holiday season.
SCOPE: An environmental, outdoor light Installation either free standing, on the ground, on rooftops, projected, in nearby trees, triggered by movement or sound, or as a photo background. Installation could be themed with the holidays, the history of Naval Training Center San Diego, or simply artful.
Note: The installation is in the flight path to San Diego International Airport so be mindful of not interfering with the flight path or FAA regulations.
ELIGIBILITY: Artists, especially with experience in creating temporary light installations, are encouraged to submit a proposal for consideration.
SUBMITTAL DEADLINE: Wednesday, October 18, 2017
WHAT TO SUBMIT: Name, Art or Design Experience, Resume, Outline of Proposal, Draft Budget and Contact Information
INSTALLATION DATE: In place by November 27, 2017

Additional funds could be available for the short term rental of projection equipment or other identified technical needs.
PUBLICITY: Be willing to participate in onsite and media promotions
SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants will be reviewed by the NTC Foundation’s Art in Public Places Committee, Vicki Reed – Chair, in conjunction with staff of the LSCA. LSCA will also be approving the site location.
