CALL TO ARTISTS - SAN DIEGO BOTANIC GARDEN SCULPTURE EXHIBITION

Opportunity Description
Dear Artists, You are invited to submit appropriate artwork(s) for the 2018/19 San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG) Sculpture in the Garden Exhibition. SDBG receives over 250,000 visitors each year. Over the years, the Sculpture Exhibition has grown in reputation as well as sales. As the curator, I am responsible to present appropriate artworks to the SDBG’s art committee, guide the selection process, and select physical locations for all selected works. Please note, SDBG will not approve sculptures that require a crane to install/de-install. SDBG staff will be available to assist with loading and transporting sculpture to locations, installation and de-installation. My presentation is scheduled for late January, 2018. If you are interested in submitting, please email me jpeg(s) of the works you would like to be considered, together with title(s), materials, dimensions, description, your price, and any special installation requirements, no later than January 19, 2018. Please feel free to forward this email to any other appropriate artists who may be interested in submitting. If selected, you will be informed by mid February and provided an agreement by SDBG. The terms of the agreement are straight-forward: 1. Artist is to deliver, install and de-install. Up to two SDBG staff members are available to assist with installation and de-installation if needed. 2. SDBG adds an additional 35% to your price as retail price (plus applicable tax). If your work sells, the artist is expected to provide a replacement piece to be installed immediately, similar in scale to the original, for the balance of the exhibition. 3. Installation is tentatively scheduled for early May 2018, the opening reception is in June (tbd), and de-installation is April, 2019. 4. SDBG provides insurance on all artworks up to $10,000 per artwork for the duration of the exhibition. 5. SDBG does an amazing job of P.R., family, friends for the duration of the exhibition. Please see the current exhibition on SDBG’s website at www.sdbgarden.org/sculpture.htm If you feel you would like me to visit your studio to determine which artworks to submit, please email me directly. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate contacting me. I shall look forward to seeing your work.
