Event Description |
No longer do we need a darkroom to make negatives for contact printing with alternative photographic processes. The pixel is now our friend and with Photoshop and inkjet transparency films, a negative can be created on demand in the desired dimensions and density.
Using several tested methods by leading alternative process photographers, you will create digital negatives for two paint-on emulsions. The cyanotype process will be used initially to judge negative densities as well as proof the computer generated negative for optimum outcomes. With increased familiarity of image generation using Photoshop and the refinement of the “film” negative, you will color separate a full color file to print either a three-or-four color gum print.
This four-session, 12-hour workshop will provide you with the foundation to explore and refine all the possibilities for alternative photo-making without a darkroom.
