In mending and making, we mend ourselves. —Deena Beverly In this hand stitching gathering we will honor a memory, ourselves, someone or something else. As we reflect on our subject we may find clarity, understanding and peace of mind. The time provides space to see with fresh eyes of why this came to pass. We will then express our discovery through color, texture and composition, in a figurative or abstract style with thread, appliqué, color and pattern. Come stitch with us. Nothing is like stitching in community with others. It’s fun, healing and grounding. Nancy will teach you the techniques and walk you through the step-by-step process to assist you with creating your work of art! Nancy’s approach is all about self-expression Please feel free to bring any fabrics or swatch of clothing that you like or has a special meaning that you would like to include in your project. All the sewing and embroidery is done by hand. It’s a slow stitch process.

Event Description

The unveiling reception kicking off the 2025 Arts Alive banner program in Encinitas will take place again Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 3pm-5pm at Pacific View Arts Center in Encinitas featuring 60 local fine artists. Afterwards, all original art banners will be displayed on street light posts on Coast Highway 101 from La Costa Avenue to Cardiff Restaurant Row and in the parking lot of Seaside Market in Cardiff for the community to enjoy for two months. Hosted by: Lorraine Cote Come paint the pier at the end of Pier View Way or the surrounding Oceanside beach shops and beaches. We will meet at the start of the pier at 2 and fan out from there. Free parking at the lot at the corner of Seagaze and S Cleveland drives or metered parking immediately adjacent to the pier. Public restrooms available. FREE and open to all levels: Whether you're a seasoned plein air painter or just starting your artistic journey, this event is for you! Beginners and experienced painters can find fresh inspiration in the urban and natural landscape. Join us for a Flatlay Workshop with the Office of Collecting and Design! In this kid-friendly, hands-on session, you’ll learn the art of arranging and photographing objects from a top-down perspective to create a visually captivating flatlay. Participants will curate, sort, and arrange items from ArtReach's collection and take home an instant film print of your creation. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience!! About the Office of Collecting and Design: This interactive museum of "lost" and "forgotten" objects, is taking its beloved collection on the road! The museum is often described as a “nostalgia machine,” transporting visitors into a world of delight, curiosity, and half-buried memories. The previous brick-and-mortar space has been transformed into a 42’ traveling museum, where visitors can open every drawer, explore every box, and engage in hands-on experiences. The Office of Collecting & Design will be open during ArtReach’s daily hours (9 am - 5 pm) from April 17.

Ellary Jane and Marc Kitaen will be exhibiting their artwork this Saturday April 19th between 9am. - 4pm. at the outdoor “Shelter Island Shoreline Park”. We’ll be alongside multiple local artists setup on the grass roundabout circle across the street from “Humphreys Concerts by the Bay”. It’s such a beautiful vibrant view of the harbor there and the weather will be apx. 67 degrees. A Mile-Long Scenic Park 2200 Shelter Island Dr, San Diego, CA 92106 The majority of my art showcases Ocean, Aquatic & Surfer themed, with many wildlife animals.
