Opening Days Reception Opening: May 10th, 6-8pm Artist in Attendance Regular Hours: Monday through Saturday, 10am-5pm
Event Description Join us for Lino Lago's, our Madrid, Spain artist’s third solo exhibition, titled Multipolar. This exhibition introduces the idea of confrontation of different worlds/cultures—a multipolar world—which these days is challenged and most likely finished with our dreamt idea of globalization. The artist represents these concepts by confronting different and sometimes opposing paths and styles in a single painting. Lino Lago is a Spanish-born artist, who continuously pushes the boundaries of contemporary art practices. Painting with technically traditional oil paints and inspired by the imagery of classical European portraits, Lago’s work has a distinctly contemporary feel. In his California solo exhibition Multipolar, the artist treats his viewers to snippets of a portrait through squiggles across monochrome canvases.

PARK OPERA is a one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary arts experience, free and open to the public. Staged outdoors in a public park, audiences receive a map and follow a wandering course through a landscape filled with music, art, and movement. Listeners of all ages will discover unexpected delights as they explore the park, igniting the imagination, activating the senses, and encouraging us to become “all ears”. In the process, we all can gain a deeper appreciation for our urban natural spaces, and consider the impact our presence leaves on our beautiful landscape. PARK OPERA was conceived by composer Wojtek Blecharz, and has been performed in public parks in Poland, Germany, and Austria. Event Description We Are Voices of Other Voices is the collective work of the Zapotec community and the talent of nine contemporary artists. Each artist is exhibiting one or two textile pieces made through this collaboration, as well as a piece of their own current work. Under the direction of Ricardo Pinto and María Saldaña, artisans from this region partnered with contemporary artists to develop a series of pieces for this exhibition. Through this process, the creatives entered a dialogue, becoming apprentices of each other’s practices. The artisans learned new ways of designing, and the artists adapted to traditional craft techniques, using their dialogue to create pieces that respect and emphasize the origin of the craft as well as the contemporary art that emerged from working together.
